Some places don’t need to announce themselves. They work quietly, confidently, letting nature do the speaking. Four Seasons Resort Seychelles on Mahé is one of those places — villas drifting up a jungle-covered hillside, a bay of soft white sand below, and a rhythm that gently unravels the moment you arrive.
We came as a couple, long before children, with no schedules, no deadlines, and the rare luxury of simply moving through the day as we pleased.

The Setting
The Suite
Hilltop Ocean-View Suite With Private Pool
A small pantry and guest bathroom sat by the entrance, but the real reveal came as the living room opened onto a broad sun terrace. Our infinity-edge plunge pool blended into the sky, framed by palms and the distant curve of the bay.
For our anniversary, the team left a chilled bottle of Scavi & Ray (non-alcoholic), fresh fruit and a few understated celebratory touches — thoughtful without being elaborate.
The bedroom was generous and serene, centred around the view. A proper pillow menu (firm, soft, memory foam, hypoallergenic) helped us perfect our sleep. The bathroom was almost a suite of its own: deep bathtub angled toward the terrace, dual showers (indoor and outdoor), and lighting that wrapped everything in calm.
Evenings here became our ritual — terrace doors open, pool warm, sky slowly dimming towards charcoal.

Arrive early for dinner at ZEZ.
Watching the bay shift through its layers of colour — from bright afternoon to deepening dusk — is an experience that makes the entire evening feel special.
The resort
The Beach
Petite Anse feels like a naturally protected amphitheatre — a curve of baby-powdered sand, gently shelving into warm, clear water. Tall palms and broad-leafed trees frame the bay, occasionally letting leaves fall onto the sand as a reminder that this beach is alive, not manicured for perfection.
The water stays calm most of the day, ideal for long swims. Service flows gently: fresh fruit, chilled towels, ice lollies, infused waters — appearing exactly when you want them, without a hint of intrusion.
The Pools
There’s a central resort pool with beautiful views of the bay, but most guests inevitably end up spending more time on their villa terrace. When every room comes with a private infinity pool overlooking the ocean, it becomes harder to justify leaving your own deck.
Dining
- ZEZ – Elevated breakfasts with panoramic views; evenings lean into Asian-influenced dishes with understated refinement.
- Kannel – Pool and beachside dining with Seychelles touches woven naturally through the menu.
- Koi – Modern Japanese on an upland deck; clean flavours, quietly sophisticated.
- In-Villa Dining – Surprisingly strong; generous, timely, and ideal for those who want a private evening with the ocean as company.
The Family
We arrived as a couple, but the resort has built a thoughtful family offering: a Kids For All Seasons club, a children’s pool, gentle nature-led activities and an approach that allows kids to explore without compromising the tranquility adults come here for.
The Food
Breakfast had a relaxed confidence to it. Tropical fruits, fresh breads, island favourites, light dishes and made-to-order plates came together with ease. Staff understood vegetarian, vegan, and no onion/no garlic needs without hesitation — something you appreciate more when it’s done smoothly.
Dinners were quietly excellent, when we were there, an Italian chef took care of us, and we had some of the finest Italian cuisine all tailored to our dietary requirements. Spaghettis, risottos, lasagnes, pizza balanced tastes and were memorable on the palate.

Book the first treatment slot of the morning.
It’s silent, the air is at its softest, and for a little while, the entire hillside feels like it belongs only to you.
The Spa
High above the resort, the spa feels like a world in its own right. The air is cooler, the canopy denser, and the soundscape shifts from ocean to soft rustling leaves. It’s a destination within the destination.
The design is understated: natural wood, stone textures, warm lighting. It avoids the glossy spa aesthetic and instead leans into something calmer and more elemental.
Treatment Pavilions
Each pavilion is tucked into greenery or perched near granite outcrops, offering different views — some open toward the ocean, others fully enveloped in the forest. Privacy is absolute.
Treatments
Honestly, what stood out to me was how present the therapist was. It didn’t feel like they were running through a set routine. They’d slow down in places without me even asking, change the pressure when something tightened, and somehow know exactly where to spend more time. It came across as someone who really understands the body, not someone following steps.
I walked out feeling lighter in a very real way — not that sleepy spa feeling, but more like my whole system had been recalibrated. It was one of those treatments where you realise only afterwards how much tension you were carrying.
Relaxation Pavilion
Afterwards, you drift into a quiet space with cushioned loungers, herbal teas, infused waters and breeze filtering through timber slats. It’s easy to lose sense of time here, and many guests often cite the spa as one of the hotel’s standout experiences — a place that routinely appears on personal “best-of” lists for island spas.
The Couple’s Chapter
Travelling just the two of us meant we fell into a rhythm that belonged entirely to the island. Slow mornings, long swims, afternoons reading on the deck, evenings in our plunge pool watching the sky dissolve into dusk.
It was one of those rare trips defined not by big moments, but by the ease between them.
The Verdict
Four Seasons Seychelles delivers a kind of luxury shaped not by spectacle, but by space, privacy, and an unwavering respect for the landscape. It’s consistently ranked among travellers’ favourite island retreats — not because it shouts the loudest, but because it understands exactly what to leave unsaid.
This is a place for travellers who value:
- nature as the main design feature
- thoughtful service that never feels orchestrated
- views that open into silence
- space to slow down
It’s a resort where time stretches, where the ocean becomes your daily backdrop, and where the hillside holds you gently from the moment you arrive.
We’ll return — this time with our children — and show them the place where Mum and Dad learned what stillness feels like.
